- Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin is unhappy with blockchain gambling
- Buterin lamented that the crypto community’s morals are degenerating
- He also noted that some people view Ethereum as a villain because it doesn’t “respect” blockchain casinos
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin expressed his dissatisfaction with blockchain gambling saying that it has led to a “moral reversal” within the crypto space. Buterin lamented that the crypto community considers other networks better than Ethereum because it doesn’t respect blockchain casinos. He revealed that the blockchain community’s moral reversal is toxic to the space, something that may harm the development and growth of quality blockchain projects.
Crypto Buterin Feeling Disappointed or Frustrated?
In an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on web3 social network Tako, the Ethereum co-founder expressed his unhappiness while responding to a community member who asked him to share events that left him “feeling disappointed or even frustrated.”
Buterin, however, noted that offline blockchain community members hold a different view from their online counterparts. According to Buterin, the offline community still maintains moral values when it comes to blockchain projects and usage.
The Ethereum executive expressed his commitment to the blockchain industry adding that the Ethereum community should unite to create a better future. Buterin, however, disclosed that the Ethereum Foundation may show some partiality in supporting projects.
Crypto Buterin Clashing With the Community?
Buterin’s dissatisfaction comes a month after he said that some crypto community members are hostile to Ethereum developers which has created a toxic development environment. It also comes six months after the Ethereum co-founder refuted claims he doesn’t support decentralized finance.
Buterin protested the claims saying he supports Ethereum-based DeFi projects provided they are sustainable and decentralized.
Last month, Buterin announced changes to the Ethereum Foundation to increase support for dApp developers. The foundation recently deposited $120 million into several DeFI platforms to show its support and reduce selling ETH to cover its expenses.
With Buterin seeing a moral decay in blockchain usage, it’s to be seen whether his stand will affect Ethereum’s usage as developers look for less strict blockchains.
